Locomondo was founded by Markos Koumaris and Giannis Barnabas in 2003 in Athens and is today one of the most famous and beloved bands in Greece. The name translated will say "crazy world" (loco = crazy in Spanish, mondo = world in Italian). Their music is a mixture of Reggae, Ska and Latin rhythms that are combined mainly with Greek lyrics and often with elements from Greek traditional music.
We started playing this song around 2006, before the recording of our album "Me Wanna Dance" started. In a live at After Dark we decided to try it in front of the audience, since we always do that with our songs. Before they are recorded, we always try them live to see the response of the people but also to see what works and what does not work in the orchestration. People liked it a lot, but we continued to have our doubts about this song. Something about the lyrics that can be misinterpreted as an anthem for the specific grass, something about the lightness of the song in relation to the rest of the material of the album made us think about it next and triple about whether we will include it on the CD. Finally we decided not to put it and give basis to the other pieces. After about a year, while drinking coffee in a shop, I hear a cell phone on the next table ringing while playing Pro in a rough recording from that night. I ask the owner of the cell phone "where did you find this" and he says "well do not you know? Crazy piece, everyone talks about it". Then I realized that the songs are finally alive, they have a soul and in fact, they have their own will. "If they want to be heard and come out, you can do nothing."
The Italian Version of the song
Our neighbors, the Italians, seem to be just as big fans of Pro Evolution Soccer as we are. The very successful hip-hop band Club Dogo from Milan contacted Locomondo and asked for permission to do a cover of the song.
Club Dogo added well-crafted Italian rhymes and gave a more hip-hop style to the production doing a really good job. This is how the song "PES" was released. (CD title: "Noi siamo il club") which was a great success in Italy.
